The attractive route starts directly at the Devil's Table adventure park and leads over narrow paths through a small valley to Salzwoog. This natural monument of sandstone is one of the top ten natural wonders of Germany and is the symbol of the Hauenstein holiday region.
The route is also well suited for families in terms of length. You will find places to eat near the Devil's Table adventure park or in the local gastronomy of Hinterweidenthal. A detour to the Devil's Table adventure park can be easily combined. With its giant slide, sea of rocks, and water playground, it is a paradise for the whole family.
#WatchOut! For consideration and nature conservation
Hiking, walking, strolling, cycling, mountain biking, climbing, trekking, picnicking, forest bathing, chilling, and dining out. Holidays and leisure time in the fresh air should be fun and, above all, relaxing. This works best when we deal carefully and mindfully with ourselves, other people, and nature. SO: WATCH OUT AND THINK! Be considerate of everyone on the way and above all of nature so that we can still enjoy it in the distant future.

Safety information
Despite the "unmissable" marking of the premium hiking trails, we recommend always carrying an appropriate hiking map for safety reasons, so that you can quickly find a safe area in case of thunderstorms or emergencies.
Especially in autumn, pay attention to the fallen leaves on the ground, which can hide unevenness, roots, stones, or holes in the path. After storms, trees can still fall or branches can drop afterward. Under adverse weather conditions, natural paths can have muddy and slippery sections. You have to expect such path impairments when hiking. Not all rocks or precipices are secured with ropes or railings. Sure-footedness is sometimes required. If you believe you cannot walk certain sections of the path, you should avoid them.
Be generally careful on the premium hiking trails during snow and ice!

Hinterweidenthal Devil's Table Route
Fun, enjoyment and adventure for the whole family
A leisurely hike for young and old with adventurous sights – that is the Devil's Table Route in Hinterweidenthal. As the name suggests, the main feature of this ten-kilometer hike is the legendary Devil's Table, the emblem of the Hauenstein collective municipality.
This excursion destination is especially popular with families, also because of the new large adventure park, aesthetically embedded in the rock landscape. Above the park is the start of the premium hiking trail. Narrow paths lead parallel to the Salzbach stream towards Salzwoog. On the way there, you pass the Schwammborn spring. Mysterious and hidden, the spring with its small pond lies in a dark forest area. Those who want to enjoy this atmosphere can either have a generous snack at the rest area or rest on a wooden bench above the pond and listen to the soft splashing of the spring water. Refreshed and rested, the little village of Salzwoog is soon reached, from where the route leads around the elevation "Hoher Kopf" and back deeper into the forest.
A lovely resting place aptly named "Beautiful View" offers a great view of the surrounding mountains. Now it's not far to the "devilish" sights, although the hiking trail is anything but devilish. When the sunbeams shine through the dense treetops, you feel closer to heaven than to the devil's hell. After about 30 minutes of walking, you reach the bizarrely shaped rock formation "Devil's Forge" and a few meters further on the "Devil's Kitchen" – a multi-layered sandstone formation.
In this chosen hiking direction, the main attraction waits at the end: the natural monument "Devil's Table". At a height of 14 meters and with its extraordinary shape, it is the only geotope in the Palatinate. You can take a break on the surrounding rocks, which have been rounded and smoothed by wind and weather, and enjoy the view of this unique rock formation. According to legend, the devil placed two rocks into a table and held a meal there. After he had eaten his fill, he simply left the table standing and went on his way. Luckily, one must admit with a wink, because the Hauenstein collective municipality would certainly not want to do without this "devilish" natural wonder.
