In the Dahner Felsenland around the municipalities of Fischbach and Ludwigswinkel, there is water in astonishing variety. The contrast between striking peaks and wide valleys with beautiful wetlands, clear springs, streams, and ponds is unique in this region. The premium hiking trail "Wasgau SeenTour", certified by the German Hiking Institute, opens up this landscape with all its quiet charms and spectacular places over approximately 20 kilometers, which can be divided into two sections.

Always behave thoughtfully, kindly and considerately towards everyone you meet along the way.

Respect nature, do not destroy plants and always stay on the paths.

Remember a trash bag for the way and take your waste back home with you.

Please keep your dog on a leash at all times. Other visitors and animals will thank you.

Observe all trail closures for your own safety. Even on weekends.

Park only in designated parking spaces. Leave space for emergency and agricultural vehicles.

Give priority to agricultural and forestry traffic.

    Safety information

Especially in autumn, pay attention that fallen leaves on the ground can hide unevenness, roots, stones, or holes on the path. After thunderstorms or heavy rain, trees may still fall or branches drop. Especially in adverse weather conditions, natural paths can have muddy and slippery sections. Not all rocks or precipices are secured with ropes or railings. Surefootedness is required in places. You must expect such path impairments when hiking. If you consider certain path sections impassable, you should avoid them. Despite the "cannot-get-lost" marking of the premium hiking trails, we recommend always carrying a suitable hiking map for safety reasons so that you can quickly find a safe area in case of a thunderstorm or emergency.

    NOTE:

We strive to announce all closures caused by forestry work or hunting societies on this platform. However, there may be situations where trails are closed and we were not informed. If you encounter closures or detours on site, please observe the instructions for your own safety.

    Roadbook

We start our Wasgau SeenTour at the Biosphere House in Fischbach, initially following the main road and then turning left onto the Water Adventure Path. Partly along the Saarbach and through forest, we cross green meadows and quiet woodland areas to reach our first stage destination, the Pfälzerwoog. This lake lies idyllically in the midst of a beautiful nature reserve.

We hike up to the Lindelskopf with its magnificent oaks and experience great views of the landscape. A castle from the early Middle Ages once stood on this rocky massif, of which only a few remains exist today. After the descent, the path leads us for a stretch along the Sculpture Path before we reach the Entenweiher in Ludwigswinkel. We walk a short distance through the village and enter a rustic forest area at Guckenbühl. After some time, we reach the Rösselsquelle hidden in the forest, whose clear water is a welcome refreshment. Above the picturesque Rösselsweiher, we continue through a nature reserve towards Ludwigswinkel. After only a few minutes, we arrive at the Sägmühlweiher. These small lakes are romantic places for a rest in unspoiled nature, and with some patience, you can observe grey herons hunting. After crossing the road, we walk through a park, pass streams and hummocky meadows, and reach the barefoot path. Here you have to take off shoes and socks: walking over the different natural materials is a soothing experience!

We continue hiking through a forest area, again walking for a stretch on the Sculpture Path until we reach the Saarbacherhammer bathing lake (millpond). We follow the bike path along the lake, pass the Fjord horse farm, and walk through the valley between the Small and Great Samsberg into the Wolfsägetal. In the valley, we walk northwards and turn right at the next junction. Passing fish ponds and through fairytale-like forest sections, the path first takes us to the Schlettenbacher valley and then to the Spießwoog valley with the snail tower of the "Biosphere Adventure Path". Along the valley, the path leads us back to the Biosphere House.
